Bios Antibacterial ® is the range of porcelain stoneware flooring and wall coverings complying with the European Regulation on Biocides (EU BPR 528/2012)*, able to remove up to 99.9% of the four main bacterial strains to be found on surfaces: i.e (Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Enterococcus Faecalis.)

Bios Antibacterial ® Technology Exploits the characteristics of silver, A noble material widely used in the production of articles in everyday use (Cutlery, Teapots, Coins, Jewellery), whose Antibacterial properties have been known since ancient times. A material that is entirely harmless to the health and Hypoallergenic in contact with the skin, and does not release toxic substances. Bios Antibacterial ® is always active in light conditions, even in total darkness.

*The BPR regulation on Biocides concerns the placing on the market and use of Biocidal products, which are used to protect humans, animals, or articles against harmful organisms like pests or bacteria, by the action of the active substances contained in the Biocidal product.

The text was adopted on 22 May 2012 and has been applicable since 1 September 2013. According to the BPR regulation in force, Antibacterial products that do not comply with the rules cannot be placed on the European market.

Bios Antibacterial® - Causes and effects of bacteria in the environment

Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, and Enterococcus Faecalis are mainly responsible for Hospital-Acquired infections. They have been taken as standard indicators because they are the most aggressive class of bacteria, which sometimes can even be resistant to antibiotics.

After strict lab tests, Bios Antibacterial® turned out to be extremely effective, as it can remove 99.9% of the main four bacterial strains living in confined areas, i.e. (STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS, ENTEROCOCCUS FAECALIS, ESCHERICHIA COLI, PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA.).

As a matter of fact, A 100% Anti-Bacterial effect cannot be ensured, so the effectiveness threshold has been set by researchers all over the world at over 90% because only at such a level can a really significant reduction in bacteria be measured. That’s why in terms of Antibacterial effectiveness the scientific community will not take into account any rating under 90% and products that fail to achieve such a level may not be called AntibacterialIn addition, research has shown that Bios Antibacterial® in a humid environment, traditionally a fertile ground for the growth of Bacterial Flora, its beneficial effects are even more significant.
